Now called Nottingham East Midlands the airport was renamed in 2004 to help better explain where the airport was located as many people who were questioned failed to locate the area classed as East Midlands. Larnaca International Airport is Cyprus’s main international airport. Originally the British Armed Forces used the airport. It has two large terminals and a larger building at the rear for arrivals, which was expanded in February 2006. Cyprus is a major tourist destination and sees around 5 million people a year pass through the airport, but as the airport wasn’t designed for the capacity it is being further developed which should be finished by 2009.
